April 4, 2016 – Our next little excursion out of Titchfield Common, took us up to Winchester (somewhat bigger than little Winchester in South Canterbury, NZ). Simon had a couple of interviews and Sara had a book to buy and start while enjoying coffee.
We caught the bus into Fareham and the train up to Winchester. We wandered around, getting our bearings, finding where Simon needed to go and claiming a spot in Starbucks on the High Street for Sara to settle into. Sara bought a new read “Black Eyed Susans”.
Simon interviewed – Sara read.
We enjoyed lunch at The Stable, Winchester, yummy pizza and a refreshing beverage. Afterwards, we explored the City of Winchester. We’d found a pamphlet that suggested a walking route round the city and set off to explore.
River Itchen – flows through Winchester
Jane Austen’s last house before she died
Mailboxes Etc – saw this on our way back to the station (reminded Sara of Gilmore Girls)
We enjoyed our day in Winchester, exploring somewhere new, it’s what we came to do, to see another country in detail. And given Simon was offered the job he interviewed first for, while in the interview, and accepted after lunch, looked like Winchester could become our home…. we shall see.
