Hampshire – New Forest & Dorset – Christchurch

New Forest

Another day with the car and we weren’t going to waste it. We decided to go and check out the New Forest and find Christchurch in Dorset.

The weather wasn’t that great to start out with, grey and a bit of drizzle, especially while we sat by the sea in Hythe.

The drive through was a little strange. The speed limit is at 40mph, there is no fencing, so the horses or cows or sheep could just gallop/wander across the rode. We did see a herd of horses come galloping out of the bushes to run across the road, a few cars ahead of us. And that’s the thing, it’s called the ‘new forest’ but the way we first went through was really just a wide open plain of bushes and shrubbery. Odd.

But once we arrived in Christchurch, the sun was out, the sky was blue and it was lovely sitting in the beer garden having a cold drink.

Houses with a Fantastic Tranquil View

After wandering round Christchurch, we headed back up through the middle of the New Forrest, to the centre, Lyndhurst. We were on the hunt for some ice cream, but it was getting later on in the day and there were no ‘corner shops’ open. But there was a showroom full of beautiful Italian Stallions….
